Grundy County News July 2018
We would like to thank all of you who took the time to take our survey. While we realize that it’s not something you really like to do, it provides very valuable information on ways we can improve our program. Because of overwhelming responses, we will be changing things up a little in some of our locations. Don’t worry, we are only looking to offer a little more variety!
Thanks also to those who participated in our many fire drills! It’s never something you want to do we know, but we need to be prepared for anything and those drills play a big part in that so thank you!
Whistle Stop Café and R Place both provide a pre-determined senior meal twice a month for $6. The popular Breakfast buffet at R Place on the first Tuesday of the month. We also offer Great Plates meal coupons that are good for either R Place or Whistle Stop, and those are $6 each. They are usable at any time when you make your meal selection from their “Great Plates” menu. You use that coupon to pay for your meal.
Our congregate meal program offers many opportunities for you to join us and have a hot nutritious meal for a great price! These opportunities include a monthly party at Saratoga Tower with our next event “Dog Days of Summer” set for Wednesday July 18th. Please RSVP to 815-941-1590 by 11AM on Monday July 16th. The cost is a suggested donation of $6.00 for lunch and will be followed by Bingo. You don’t have to live at the Towers to participate so come on in!
Our congregate meal menu has the dates, times and places showing where we will be during the month. We travel to Coal City, Mazon and Minooka, and even R Place in Morris! These meals are catered and cost $6. We also serve a congregate lunch at Saratoga Tower in Morris Monday through Friday at 11:30 AM. On Wednesday and Friday it is followed by Bingo (provided we have our minimum of 5 participants.) The cost for these meals depend on the day but is a suggested donation of $3.50 to $6 per person. We do ask that you RSVP to 815-941-1590 by 9AM on Monday of that week so we are able to make sure we have enough food for everyone.
Volunteers we need you! We are looking for meal delivery drivers for our home delivered meal program. In some cases you are the only person our participant sees that day. Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Being a driver for our program could be the perfect fit!
As always, thank you all who volunteer and participate with our programs
To our financial sponsors THANK YOU! Without your support our program participants would not get the nutrition options available to them. Thank You!
