Starting in October we began collecting gifts for Homebound Meals on Wheels Clients. Starting the week of December 17th, we began delivering these gifts, and because of the support from our communities and of course donors, hundreds of homebound clients received a gift this year.
While many seniors enjoy being able to live independently, the holidays can be a difficult time for those who are unable to spend them with friends or loved ones.
This is why the local Meals on Wheels Programs serving Leyden, Proviso, Lyons, Berwyn, Cicero, Worth, Calumet, Lemont, and Bloom Townships along with Kendall and Grundy Counties began this program. Inviting the community to come together to bring some comfort and holiday cheer to area seniors through the Holiday Gift Drive program.
Providing gifts and companionship at a time when seniors may need it most, the program is made possible through the generous support of local businesses, numerous volunteers and the donors of the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois.
