Grundy County News May 2017
As part of our annual “March for Meals” funds drive we ask local banks and businesses for monetary donations to assist us in continuing with our mission to provide meals and resources to older adults and assist them in leading healthy active lives.
We would like to thank Financial Plus Credit Union of Ottawa, First Community Bank of Channahon, Grundy Bank and Braceville Township for their support of our program.
With our congregate meal program we have many opportunities for you to join us and have a hot nutritious meal for a great price! Look at our congregate meal menu for the dates, times and places showing where we will be during the month. We travel to Coal City, Mazon and Minooka, and even R Place in Morris! These meals are catered and cost $6.
We also serve a congregate lunch at Saratoga Towers in Morris Monday through Friday at 11:30 AM followed by Bingo (provided we have our minimum of 5 participants.) The cost for these meals depend on the day but is either a suggested donation of $3.50 or $6 per person. We do ask that you RSVP to 815-941-1590 by 9AM the day ahead so we are able to make sure we have enough food for everyone. We would love to keep our programming going so your continued support is requested so that we may continue in the future! Whistle Stop Café and R Place both provide a senior meal twice a month for $6. We also offer Great Plates meal coupons that are good for either R Place or Whistle Stop, and those are $6 each. They are usable at any time when you make your meal selection from their “Great Plates” menu. You use that coupon to pay for your meal and of course, please tip your wait staff.
Our next Monthly party at Saratoga Towers is Wednesday, May 24th for our Memorial Day Lunch! We will have a short ceremony at 11:15AM to honor those we have lost. With lunch served at 11:30AM or as close to it as we can get. You don’t have to live at the Towers to participate, just let us know you are coming and we’ll make sure to keep the door open for ya!
Our Home Delivered Meal program has received an increase in both meals and participants which makes for a lot more work for our volunteers! Wow! All our volunteers rock! It’s been chaotic at times and stressful but through it all you have been there to help us get the food out to all our participants. We know we couldn’t do this without you and would like you to know how grateful we are for all the hard work you have put in. Thank you.
If you are looking for meal delivery drivers for our home delivered meal program. It could be one day a week, one day a month, or even one day a year whatever works for you. Please call Marge, Nancy or Patty at 815-941-1590 to inquire.
As always, thank you all who participate and get the word out about our programs. Without your support we couldn’t do what we do. Thank You!
