Grundy County News September 2018
Our Home Delivered Meal program is still looking for new participants! We still have funding! If you are a senior 60 or above and homebound, we can deliver meals to your door throughout all of Grundy County. We also have funding to provide a second nutritious meal for the day and meals on the weekends. There is no financial requirement you just need to meet the age requirement. If you are interested please give us a call at 815-941-1590.
We are in need of meal delivery drivers for our home-delivered meal program. Our routes are Morris, Minooka, Coal City/Gardner and we have some drivers that come to Morris and pick up the food and then meet drivers in either Minooka or Coal City. It could be one day a week, one day a month, or even one day a year whatever works for you. Please call Marge, Nancy or Patty at 815-941-1590 to inquire.
Our congregate meal program offers many opportunities for you to have a hot nutritious meal at a great price! Look at our congregate meal menu for the dates, times and places showing where we will be during the month. We travel to Coal City, Mazon and Minooka, and even R Place in Morris! These meals are catered and cost $6.
Our next Monthly party at Saratoga Towers is Friday, September 14th with a “50’s Soc Hop” we’ll have a 50’s diner theme with burgers and malts! Our next event will be Friday, October 5th with our Oktoberfest Lunch! This meal will include Sauerbraten (German pot roast), Spätzle, Spiced Cabbage and Apple Crisp for a suggested donation of $6. Lunch is served at 11:30 AM and you don’t have to live at the Towers to participate, just let us know you are coming and we’ll make sure to keep the door open for ya!
We also serve a congregate lunch at Saratoga Towers in Morris Monday through Friday at 11:30 AM followed by Bingo (provided we have our minimum of 5 participants.) The cost of these meals depends on the day but is either a suggested donation of $3.50 or $6 per person. We do ask that you RSVP to 815-941-1590 by 9 AM the day ahead so we are able to make sure we have enough food for everyone.
Whistle Stop Café and R Place both provide a senior meal twice a month for $6. We also offer Great Plates meal coupons that are good for either R Place or Whistle Stop, and those are $6 each. They are usable at any time when you make your meal selection from their “Great Plates” menu. You use that coupon to pay for your meal and of course, please tip your wait staff.
To our volunteers and Community Partners –Thank You! SAVE THE DATE! Join us Thursday, October 25th for our Harvest Hoedown Volunteer luncheon with Steve Askins! Look for more information to come.
As always, thank you all who volunteer and participate. Without your support, we couldn’t do what we do. Thank You!
